Frontiers in Cancer Science: the Singapore Cancer Conference

Guest post by Kanaga Sabapathy, PhD

Providing a forum for innovative cancer researchers around the world, Singapore will hold its 11th Frontiers in Cancer Science (FCS) conference from November 4-6 at Academia at SingHealth.

The conference is jointly organized by the Cancer Science Institute of Singapore, Duke-NUS Medical School, Genome Institute of Singapore, Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology, Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, National Cancer Centre Singapore, and National University Cancer Institute, Singapore.

This annual conference started in 2009 as a one-day symposium for the common purpose of sharing and advancing knowledge locally as well with the global scientific community. It has now grown into a major international cancer conference, with more than 500 participants registering annually. It is the largest cancer conference in Singapore and regularly brings together cancer researchers and cancer physicians to share their pioneering ideas and novel information in an interactive and network-building environment. Highlights of the previous FCS conferences can be seen here.

FCS 2019 brings together a stellar list of international and local distinguished cancer researchers covering all aspects of cancer research, with complementary knowledge and expertise. They include the 2018 Nobel Laureate Gregory Winter, CBE, FRS, FMedSci, along with Ira Mellman, PhD, of Genentech; Yinon Ben-Neriah, MD, PhD, of the Israel Cancer Research Fund; Sankar Ghosh, PhD, of Columbia University, and many others. Advances in both basic science and clinical realms will be presented. There will also be the opportunity for young investigators to showcase their work, and selected talks from poster abstracts will be presented at the lightning-talks sessions. Prizes will also be awarded for the best short talks and posters.

This year, our partner, the American Association of Cancer Research (AACR), will once again sponsor the poster prizes. Two travel awards worth $2,000 each for two meritorious poster presenters at the FCS 2019 will support travel to the 2020 AACR Meeting in San Diego.

Program highlights, as well as information about registration and abstract submission, are available here.
